The Home Energy Improvement Program (HEIP) helps Georgia Power customers reduce energy use, save on energy costs and improve the indoor air quality and comfort of their homes.

In this program, there are two approaches:

Whole House

The Whole House approach promotes a holistic method of reducing electricity use through the installation of multiple prescriptive improvements. The incentive amounts are based on the home achieving a 25% electricity (kWh) savings: 50% of cost up to $800 and 50% of the cost up to $150 for the Home Energy Assessment.
The 2017 Whole House Home Energy Improvement Program participation is limited. An application for a reservation must be made in advance and approved prior to any rebates being paid. Please contact 1-877-310-5607 for additional information.

Individual Improvements

The Individual Improvements approach allows Georgia Power customers to receive incentives for installing one or more individual energy efficiency measures.

The 2017 Home Energy Improvement program rebates:

  • Programmable / Smart thermostats purchased at Georgia Power Marketplace ONLY, incentive 50% of cost up to $100. See georgiapower.com/marketplace for more details.
  • Heat pump conversion ≥ 16 SEER VRF or ≥ 18 SEER traditional heat pump, incentive $250. Rebate offer scheduled to end 12/31/2017 but subject to end prior to 12/31/2017 based on program participation.

Eligibility Requirements

Must be a Georgia Power customer to participate. For “Whole-House” rebate consideration, a BPI energy Assessment must be performed, and recommended improvements must be completed by a qualified contractor participating in the Georgia Power Home Energy Improvement Program. Contractor will charge a fee for the assessment. Rebate eligibility for improvements depends on assessment results. All work is subject to third party verification. Any improvement agreements are between the customer and contractor. Georgia Power takes no responsibility for improvement agreements. Contractors set work prices. All rebates may not apply if customer’s home is not eligible for all qualifying improvements. All reimbursement forms must be signed, submitted and reviewed for accuracy before rebate is paid. Rebates are subject to limitations and subject to change. Customer’s actual utility bill savings will vary depending on individual energy usage and qualifying improvements made.
